Checkers Under Construction in Winter Park, Florida
Posted: May 11, 2019 by SteveA new Checkers restaurant under construction in Winter Park, Florida will replace the former Mobile gas station. The location of the future Checkers is 203 N Semoran Blvd, which is the NE corner of the Semoran Blvd and University Blvd intersection.
The Checkers construction project is adjacent to the AutoNation Toyota. Taco Bell is directly across the street, and McDonald's and China Garden Restaurant are also close by.
The future Checkers under construction in Winter Park is corporate owned. There are at least two other Checkers restaurants currently under construction in Florida; one in Palm Springs (Palm Beach County) and another in Orlando on Orange Blossom Trail. Another Checkers is planned for Deland on S Woodland Blvd.
Checkers was founded by Jim Mattei founded 1986 in Mobile, Alabama. As of 2019 there are approximately 800 locations in the U.S. Checkers and Rally's merged in August 1999. The company is headquarted in Tampa, Florida,
Checkers is probably best known for their uniquely spicey french fries. Below is a recent Checkers and Rally's commercial promoting the 2019 Feastival of Steak deal. Each of the three Philly cheesesteak item options are $2. One of the options is french fries topped with steak & cheese.
In October 2018, Checkers Drive-In Restaurants, Inc. applied for and was allowed use for the trademark "Rally's Now", according to United States Patent and Trademark Office records.
